Hair Clippies

I was visiting with 3 of my roomies from university today. The 4 of us have 10 kids when we all get together. Yikes, that's a lot of babies. Anyways it has been a few years since we have been able to pull off a little get together. Since our last visit the other girls have all had baby girls. 3 cute little beauties that I got to meet for the first time.
So I thought a little gift was in order. I made these flowered hair clips from a tutorial here on the Jones Design Company blog. Mercilessly copied I tell you. The link for how to make the flower is at the bottom of the page.

Then I used my slightly dusty Stampin' Up! stuff to make little cards to put them on. I was happy with how they all turned out. Just a cute little something to give my friends!
In other news I started antibiotics today, finally. Hopefully I will soon get some energy back to finish up the little projects I have on the go.

Breaking for Spring

Just got back from 5 days away with the family round about Seattle for Spring Break. I really was in need of a break and it was a very nice trip. The weather was perfect too, which never hurts.

Unfortunately, I got the kids' cold the day before we left and it may or may not have developed into pneumonia... I feel like this slightly decrepit walking man:
I mean look at his hump back, he definitely doesn't look well.

Took this at the beach today and I want to frame this for my house.
Our initial and the colours, how perfect.

I bought myself some new shoes, for supa cheap!
Converse one stars in boys size 5, which fits great
and is almost half the price of a pair of ladies size 7's.

OK, mountains of laundry and cleaning, grocery shopping and catching up to do now. And must add 'buy vitamin C' to to do list so I can conquer this cold before work on Monday. Just for a minute I'll pretend I'm still here...
When really, I look more like this... but more frazzled and less cute.

I love a bargain

A few days ago I got a chance to go shopping at newly discovered outlets (thanks Rosa). I took my little girlie who actually was a great helper. She picked out a baby present that Nana had asked us to get and she shopped patiently with me for over 2 hours. I may have bribed her continually with snacks, but she was still very good.

We went in almost any store I could have wished for but we ended up at the Banana Republic outlet.
I love Banana Republic.
I rarely shop at Banana Republic.

The price is a bit more than my usual budget and there isn't a store near by. Thank goodness.

After we looked at the ladies clothes and tried things on and used up our last snack-bribe, we looked around a bit for A. He doesn't really need much, remember we wear uniforms for work. His uniforms even get washed at work, how great is that? But I have bought some things for him from BR in the past and he has shopped there a bit too.

Well, all this to say we found a deal that we couldn't refuse...
For this vest! Somehow getting a deal like that is very satisfying to me! And despite his face in this picture, he did like it and has worn it. A lot. Yay!

Reno news - in need of art

Many of the views in this room are coming along nicely. Ok, coming along if you ignore a few details like the still un-tiled fireplace surround. I think 2 salvaged windows would look good leaning on either side of the TV.
A few of the walls are looking a bit bare however.
I have some art in storage, under the stairs somewhere. A few are pictures that my dad painted and I really want to get those up.
Even that big wall by the table over there needs something...
Maybe that will be our task for next week.

A Bit More Basement Reno News

slightly rearranged basement mantel

The basement is still inching along toward completion. The bench seat was finished last week by my amazing handyman. We are deciding between leaving it as is or getting a foam cushion and covering it. He wants a cushion and I think it's fine without.
It is next to what will be the kitchenette. So it will be the perfect place for the kids crafting adventures with their supplies and the board games all stored underneath. I think we may have finally decided on countertops and a sink. Still need to finish those windowsills, pick a pendant light, buy a bar fridge...

The other side of the room looks pretty much the same as it did here when we first got the rugs. I still hope to change that ottoman cover and to get some kind of blinds.
This where I decided to put my new "library throw", a present from Jo.

Doesn't it look cozy?

Song Lyric Sunday

I love it when a song says just what you are thinking. Here's what I am thinking today.

You Alone Can Rescue
by Matt Redman

Who, oh Lord, could save themselves,
Their own soul could heal?
Our shame was deeper than the sea
Your grace is deeper still

You alone can rescue, You alone can save
You alone can lift us from the grave
You came down to find us, led us out of death
To You alone belongs the highest praise

You, oh Lord, have made a way
The great divide You heal
For when our hearts were far away
Your love went further still
Yes, your love goes further still

You alone can rescue, You alone can save
You alone can lift us from the grave
You came down to find us, led us out of death
To You alone belongs the highest praise
To You alone belongs the highest praise
To You alone belongs the highest praise

You alone

We lift up our eyes, lift up our eyes
You’re the Giver of Life
We lift up our eyes, lift up our eyes
You’re the Giver of Life
We lift up our eyes, lift up our eyes
You’re the Giver of Life
We lift up our eyes, lift up our eyes
You’re the Giver of Life

the answer for my skin- revisited

A while ago I wrote a bit about using products recommended by Paula Begoun and her book Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me. I now have her website Beautypedia as an app on my phone. Although I buy things she recommends and have for a few years now, I hadn't bought anything from her own line of skin care products.
This is starting to sound like a commercial so I'll get to the point.
Went online,
chose some products,
bought them,
they arrived,
I used them,
I love them.

Still works, The End.

It has taken me 2 weeks to get even a few pictures, but here it is. My attempt to actually get dressed for the day and to wear the clothes I already own.
